I spent all of yesterday in L.A., and driving to and back from L.A. As a direct result of this I ended up getting back home too late to actually do a blog post, which is the reason for no update on Saturday. Christmas is very soon, so most will probably be in fairly good moods, and if not then it’s probably the stress of buying last minute presents, along with the stress of making last minute arrangements. Personally I have been in a much better mood then I am on average, and everything concerning writing has been going along just fine. Happy Holidays everyone.
Feels like it’s been forever since I have actually done an update, but either way not much exciting has actually been going on… I suppose my birthday is coming up, yet who looks forward to getting older? Besides that I just spent an unfathomable amount of time watching a live stream on this great website called twitchtv. For those of you that don’t understand what a live stream is, well in most cases it’s when someone from you tube plays a video game with commentary and broadcasts live, it even involves a sort of chat for everyone that watches. Unfathomable may seem absurd; however, I am so tired that I will be surprised if this makes any sense whatsoever, so I don’t actually know how long I was watching it for. The stream was an entire play through of final fantasy 6, in one sitting. Final fantasy 6 takes insanely long to complete, and the people playing it took there sweet time doing so. If people would like then I would be happy to do a review on twitchtv, and to explain it in a bit more detail, when more than half my brain is working properly. Comment down below on how things have been for you, also share with us all, the things you know about live streaming/twitchtv, that is if you know anything.
Well as far as my collection of short stories, they are all finishing nicely. I only have to complete three more, which I hope to for the most part do right after this and tomorrow. Then I will have to do editing for the stories that I have not already done it for. Besides the relatively big project for me coming to an end, I bought six new games...I blame the sale. So now with so many games, I have many reviews that I can easily do, the question is if it is to much of one thing. Is my audience really suitable for that many reviews-just on video games. Well to find out I have made a poll for it, if you want to see other things along with the reviews for the games, then I will do my best to do two reviews these coming wednesdays. Make sure to go to the polls and give your feedback.
I have a whole week of vacation and I plan to use it wisely. Sleep will be a common occurrence along with writing, writing of all sorts, for this website, for my short stories, and even some poetry here, or there. Now besides the usual many games have been getting my attention. I will not go on and on about them, but here are a few of the more noteworthy ones: Chivalry: Medieval Warfare, Dishonored, Borderlands 2, and Unmechanical. If you enjoy video games, then I suggest these, if not then just act like you never read that last part. Now despite Thanksgiving coming up I have no real plans to do anything special on the day of. So my question to you all is what you are doing then, also do you know any of the games I mentioned and have you played any of them?
A few nights ago I had a very realistic dream. This is a big deal for me because I never have dreams… The dream has to say the least inspired me, so I will be turning my dream into a short story, but my dream was not a short one and actually contained multiple scenes in it. I am excited about this particular short story and although I had no plans to add more short stories to Flying is Only Enjoyable With Potential for a Spectacular View (A collection of short stories that I plan to release), I feel that I must add this one. Besides this I saw a movie called Cloud Atlas yesterday, which I found to be innovative and thought filled. Of course I have not read the book it is based on… nevertheless you can expect a review on it. In the comment section let me know if you remember your dreams frequently, or if you have ever had an influential dream.
I didn't actually do a blog post yesterday because there wasn't really anything to say... There still isn't that much, but something I am very excited about is my second favorite band is coming out with a new album. What makes it even better is that they are going to release it without the use of a record company, instead they are raising funds with the use of kickstarter, which if you are wondering what kickstarter is... well I did a review on the website. Now you might be thinking how could they possibly need money when they are a generally popular successful band. Well although there are plenty of bands that make a lot of money, not as many as you would think are actually rich, or at the very least stay rich. Record companies oftentimes take the majority of the cut, add agents and all the other people that are involved in the process of making music and well there isn't that much money left... What a lot of bands make most of there money off of is tours, or using their popularity to make money in other ways. Besides my excitement over a new album being released by a band that I thought was done with making albums, well there is really just something that has me worried. My artist has not responded in a while... based off of what I know she is in the area where hurricane sandy hit, so something could definitely have happened. Or maybe I'm just paranoid. Anyways peace hope everyone is good and if you have anything to say don't hesitate to comment down below.
I feel terrible about not posting anything last Wednesday/ Saturday… on the upside I now have a lot of
content ready to be written and posted. The main reason why I failed to update on time is a sad one I
have been having a bad case of writers block, and not just concerning this website I have overall failed
to be productive these last 7 days. Now at the very least I have been inspired by many different things
over these last couple of days, so I do have many plans as far as what I shall be writing… Hope you can
forgive me and if you have any advice for how to get rid of writers block, or if you would like to put in
your own input on what causes writers block then please do.
PS: I am clueless as far as what causes writers block.
Sorry that this is so late, I meant to post it on Thursday… but of course my computer decided to die on me. Either way I by some miracle fixed it, which means I can update my website again. I have been working on many short stories for many months; originally I had no plans to do anything with them. Nevertheless I now plan to polish them to perfection, hire an editor to get them past perfection, and I have even found a very talented artist that will make a cover for me, as well as a few pictures for the inside. This artists name is Stephanie Tomkiel, I highly recommend her to anyone looking for professional art for a fair price. I have already discussed with her what I would like as a cover, and she has done a few concept sketches, just to make sure that we were on the same page. Along with having found an awesome artist and editor, I am working hard on my short stories, many of which haven’t even been in part posted on BookRix. The actual price that I will charge for the end result will be a loss for me, but even though I won’t make money off of it what is most important to me is that it is read, and that I get some exposure. The title of the collection of short stories, is the same as the title of this post. Comment down below any thoughts, or questions that you have.
It is well into October now and Halloween is coming. Halloween is my favorite holiday because I love creepy and scary, even though scary normally just means me laughing at someone else screaming… I don’t mean so much in movies, but when I go to a haunted house, haunted maze, or really whatever it is that seems the most appealing. Besides Halloween coming up the Newbie Writing Challenge is also coming to an end, to be more exact voting stops this Monday (15nth of October). If you have not already voted then make sure to go do that, and maybe even vote for me as long as you’re listening to me ;P. Lastly I have been on the search for an editor, an artist, and a way to make a decent trailer… all of course for the book of short stories that I plan on publishing through BookRix.
Lately I have been ridiculously busy... by choice of course, but still. I am working on rewriting my short story Colors and actually starting from scratch instead of just editing it. Along with it I’m finishing up my short story Apocalypse, which I expect to finish relatively soon. Besides those two stories I recently finished a couple short stories and am still writing many more. The biggest “project” that I am probably working on is what I plan on making a novel, so far it is only 70 something pages, but the final product will probably turn out to be around 200. What I did most recently is watch a movie called Looper. I liked it and because I did I will also be doing a review for it. As always the review will be posted Wednesday. Lastly I’ve been thinking about adding a contact me page to this website… so yeah discuss what you think of this down below.
I don’t know about everyone else, but I love writing… I’m not actually sure however if the way I’m doing it is efficient. Because I constantly get new ideas for new stories I am at the point where I am working on around nine short stories and one novel. So as you can imagine the stories are crawling their way up in length and quality. Besides how many projects I am working on at a time I also tend to not plan ahead, if I get a good idea I will write it down, other than that I sort of just come up with ideas as I am writing. What I do know is that planning ahead has never really been my thing… the basis of what’s going to happen I always kind of jot down in my mind. Everything is always open to change though based on how it reads, what I think of it, and feedback from others. What do you think of my sort of method of doing things? Do you write a lot and if so what’s your way of doing things?
TV is something many people spend a lot of time In front of, at the very least where I live. Many say TV is bad for you and is a waste of time, but there are good things about TV. People can learn things by watching TV, on nearly every channel, even if some things you learn are more useful than others. TV also requires very little concentration or effort, which makes it perfect for relaxing after a long hard day at work. However reading can be just as relaxing and reading normally helps one’s writing. So although TV has its ups and downs, downs such as being addictive and sucking up time, reading is probably for most a better way to kill time and relax. At least that is what I think. What do you think? Comment down below.
Lies are temporary
The truth is just a theory
Theories are not exact
Lying is in its own way a fact
Lying isn’t good, just convenient
Everyone asks for the truth
Though very few can handle its weight
Everyone has a favorite color or at the very least favorite colors. Every color is unique in its own way and probably represents something to most people. Pink for example is normally seen as a more girly color, if you’re a guy and like pink not everyone will be okay with it. But why? Why is pink supposedly a female only color? Some think that pink was once a color for boys because it is a close relative to red. The only reason the colors got sexes were so that there could be more difference between what the girls and boys wore. How girls ended up with pink and boys with blue is still not known to this day. However the need to distinguish between female and male most likely had something to do with it.
Comics, books, and video games have all been made into movies many times. They almost never stay true to what they are based on and because of this many people quickly dismiss them as bad. But does different really mean worse? In my opinion if you just look at the end result of the transformation from book/video game/comic into a movie as just a movie you will actually like it. Whereas when you compare the two you will almost always think of the original as better, but that is just because it is near impossible to compare two very different things. Each one of the things has good things and bad things. For example video games are interactive, yet most video games do not have very in depth stories, which makes playing a game for story almost as bad as watching porn for story. So when a video game is changed into a movie many things HAVE to change because the original story was probably not meant for the big screen.
Books are another story, they have maybe too much story and would make for too long of movies. Also when you read a book you use your imagination to paint a picture, what are the chances of your picture matching the directors exactly? The chances of that happening are probably not very good, so don’t expect the movies to be the same and actually give them a chance.
Facebook is an extremely popular website, used by just about everyone. The idea of being able to talk to friends and family all over the world is very appealing, but I always find myself distracted by ads mini games and posts by pages I have liked. So every time I go on Facebook I find myself staying and wasting time looking at random things that I never wanted to see in the first place. Nevertheless talking to different people across the globe is still cool, except it’s not something that often happens because you have to be online at the same time... Is Facebook’s ability to suck one in worth the positives such as keeping up to date with what your friends and family are doing? For me yes, but only barely. What about for you?
I’ve always wanted to know if I’m doing anything right when writing and what I’m doing wrong. While looking around on the internet I discovered Bookrix. I posted a few short stories on the site and got great feedback relatively fast. The feedback I got from people on Bookrix taught me much and therefore improved my writing. On Bookrix you can also read many other stories by other writers, which is nice when you want to take a break from reading. Bookrix also has contests that are free to enter and a publishing option. All in all Bookrix is a great website for anyone who enjoys reading or writing.
